Arc & Co. Design Collective was asked by La Rocca Creative Cakes to aid them in rebranding. They did not want to turn their back on long-time customers, though they sought out a younger market. Arc & Co. Design Collective then suggested developing a sub-brand – a branch of La Rocca Creative Cakes to be named La Rocca Creative Kitchen. This sub-brand would have a new look, younger identity and new packaging. Developing a sub-brand was a strategic method of reaching out to a younger audience while keeping the current one in tact.

Arc & Co. Design Collective wanted to delve deeper into the innovative side of La Rocca – the ever-changing, moving and modifying that took place within their innovative baking practices. This exploration led us to the tangram puzzle, with its movable changing pieces, all of which can be reorganized to convey a series of different shapes and images. We developed a brand identity that was informed by pieces of the tangram, and created a collection of icons realized by the shapes. To create suspense and a sense of “reveal,” we conceived of a packaging design that was experiential in its multi-operational opening. Since release, La Rocca Creative Kitchen as lived up to all desirable outcomes, and is still going strong.
