PROJECT BRIEF

Wynn Audio, a distributor of high-end audio products in North America, approached Arc & Co. Design Collective to design a custom architectural exhibition booth for the Interior Design Show in Toronto. Instead of exhibiting their products to audiophiles who care more about the quality of the product than the brand, this exhibit was aimed at attracting the less informed clientele and entice them to think of audio equipment as an art piece.


At the same time, Wynn Audio is synonymous with high quality, crisp and clear sound, which can only be experienced when the viewer is able to focus and be immersed in the sound. It was the project's goal to create an immersive space in a busy exhibition hall while conveying the idea that audio equipment is a beautiful functional sculpture that should be considered in interior design.

DESIGN SOLUTION

To enhance the auditory experience, Arc & Co. Design Collective designed a brand activation space that required attendees to enter the space and completely obstructed their view of nearby exhibits. With inspiration taken from the modern gramophone, the exterior was constructed with brushed gold laminate, reflecting the sleek elegance of a classic technology. Monolithic and sculptural, the structure exuded a contemporary beauty reminiscent of the audio equipment Wynn Audio distributes.


Once inside, viewers were surrounded by darkness and only saw a light projection of the constellations and two speakers playing the sounds of the Voyager Golden Record, which accompanied the Voyager 1 & 2 spacecraft when they were launched in 1977. As a result of the exhibit, Wynn Audio was introduced to a new audience and received a lot of attention during the show. The exhibit was awarded the IDC Innovation Award - Gold for Best Tradeshow Design at the Interior Design Show 2018.
